Ventspils Athletes in Latvian Olympic Team – Summer Games

The summer sports of the Latvian Olympic Team (LOV) for the 2026 season include 110 athletes who represent 20 sports and will receive medical and financial support provided by the LOV.

The athletes’ squads are created in accordance with the selection rules, which, in addition to the gold, silver and bronze squads, allow, based on the recommendations of sports federations, to include and support athletes whose performance in 2025 was not optimal for various reasons.

For some of the athletes who are included in the LOV by a separate decision, specific results have been determined that must be achieved in specific competitions and in a certain period of time in order to continue receiving the support and services of the LOV.

There are 16 athletes in the gold team, 19 athletes in the silver team, and 48 athletes in the bronze team. With a separate decision, 27 more athletes have been included in the LOV, some of whom will receive support after a reasoned request from the federations with additional conditions that must be fulfilled within a certain period of time.

The decision on the inclusion of athletes in the team is made by the meeting of LOV participants, which consists of representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science (IZM), the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOK) and Riga Stradiņa University (RSU).
