How was the match between Vasco and Boavista

Focusing on the debut of the Brasileirão, Vasco started the match with an alternative formation. Only Andrés Gómez, Lucas Piton, GB and Robert Renan started among the starters. Even so, Gigante da Colina took control of ball possession from the first minutes, trying to break through Boavista’s defensive block, who played with low lines.

Despite their dominance — Vasco ended the first half with 73% possession of the ball — clear chances were scarce. The individual highlight of the initial stage was the recently signed Johan Rojas, who sought to organize the game through the center, but often found himself isolated and having difficulty finding options for associative play. JP was the one who tried the most to get closer to tables.

Boavista, in turn, relied on counterattacks and long balls behind the Vasco defense. Goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato played an important role by acting advanced, almost like a libero, leaving the goal to cut down dangerous shots.

The home team found the net in the first half. After Tito tackled Puma, the ball reached Isael, who scored. However, the referee canceled the move after signaling a foul by Brunão on Tchê Tchê at the origin of the play.

Despite Boavista’s good escapes, it was Vasco who opened the scoring. JP sent Andrés Gomez on the left, who crossed and, after a deflection by Gabriel Caran, the ball was left for Puma to shoot with no chance for the goalkeeper.

After the break, Boavista had to launch an attack in search of a draw, which created momentary difficulties for the Vasco defensive system. In one of the best chances, Isael launched Brunão, who finished strongly from the edge of the area. Daniel Fuzato made a great save, and the ball even exploded onto the crossbar before going out for a corner.

Even with Boavista better at the moment, it was Vasco who expanded. Rojas went from the right to the middle and found a beautiful ball for Puma Rodríguez, who appeared in the area and finished with strength, with no chance for goalkeeper Lucas Maticoli.

Vasco didn’t lower their lines and even put another goal on the scoreboard. When the opponent’s goalkeeper made a mistake, Rojas regained possession and sent in Andrés Gómez, who took a long-range shot and scored a great goal, taking advantage of the archer’s advanced positioning.

The match was also marked by the return of Adson, who returned to action after being out since July 2025, when he suffered a fractured tibia.
