Hubert Hurkacz will leave the United Cup with the most ATP points. But there will be a manageable number.

Tomorrow Poland can achieve what the team around Hubert Hurkacz and Iga Swiatek has been unable to do in the last two years: namely victory in the United Cup. In 2024 the German team was stronger, in 2025 the USA, who beat the Poles 2-1 in Sydney this Saturday after a very entertaining sporting comparison.
But you’re not just playing for honor and decent prize money, but also for points for the ATP world rankings. And depending on the tournament phase and opponent, the total is then added up.
One thing is already certain: Hubert Hurkacz, who beat Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz during the event, will leave the United Cup with at least 265 points after his individual success in the final today against Stan Wawrinka. So that’s just above the reward for a championship at an ATP Tour 250 event. Zizou Bergs, the wonderful Belgian, has 155 points, Stefanos Tsitsipas on 125, Sebastian Baez on 115. Bergs has won four games, Tsitsipas and Baez three. By the way, the latter are each theirs against Taylor Fritz, who with only 35 points doesn’t bring much to the Race to Turin 2026.
Second chances at the United Cup
Is the general yield at this event fair? Or should performances at the United Cup be rewarded more? In its unofficial predecessor, the Hopman Cup, no points were awarded for the world rankings at all. Given the celebrities that were represented at the United Cup (including Alex de Minaur, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Casper Ruud), one could perhaps argue that a higher bonus for the charts would be justified.
The big but: Every player is guaranteed at least two matches, regardless of whether he or she loses the first one. Example de Minaur: After losing to Casper Ruud, he wouldn’t have had a chance at a second game in a regular tournament. As it is, the Australian takes home 80 points from the United Cup. And that seems to be okay again.
In the women’s race, Belinda Bencic showed what is possible: the Swiss won all of her matches. And left with 500 WTA points.
