PARIS – Spanish soccer midfielder Dro Fernández has become a new addition to Paris Saint-Germain.

He signed a four-year contract with the reigning French champion. The amount of the severance pay was not disclosed, but according to the L’Équipe newspaper, PSG paid eight million euros for the 18-year-old Barcelona player.

“I am very happy to wear the shirt of Paris Saint-Germain. It fills me and my family with great pride. I have great motivation to win as many trophies as possible with Paris, I will give my all in every match.” AP quoted the words of Fernández, who can also play as a winger.

Fernández had a contract with Barcelona until next season, but decided to go to Paris, where he will play under coach Luis Enrique, who has the same agent. The players’ move was an unpleasant surprise for the management of the Spanish club.

“We didn’t expect this because we made a different arrangement for his 18th birthday. Much to our surprise, his agent informed us that he couldn’t keep what we agreed on,” Barcelona boss Joan Laporta told Radio Catalunya.

He played five games for Barcelona this season.
