Morelia, Michoacán, January 6, 2026. – Support for sports has been one of the priorities in the management of the rector Yarabí Ávila González at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) and the result has been reflected in disciplines that until a few years ago did not enjoy as much popularity as archery and badminton, which have Sarah Silva and Karen Barrera as their best exponents.

«I am very grateful to the rector Yarabí Ávila, because she gave me a space to train and has always supported me. Among my goals for 2026 are to be selected nationally again and qualify for an international event, the Central American Games or the World Cup, and I want to win another medal for the Universidad Michoacana,” shared the Dentistry student.

For her part, the badminton player, Karen Barrera, closed 2025 by winning a Gold and a Silver in the “El Pavito” National Tournament, which took place in Salamanca, Guanajuato, in addition to also winning a Bronze in the National Universiade.
