The New Orleans Saints will move forward with Tyler Shough as the team’s starting quarterback heading into next season.
A second-round pick in 2025, Shough boasted a 5-4 record as the Saints’ starting quarterback this season, taking over for Spencer Rattler in November.
Shough completed 67.6% of his passes for 2,384 yards while throwing ten touchdown passes and six interceptions. He also had three rushing touchdowns.
Shough gained attention as an Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate following the Saints’ four-game winning streak in the second half of the season.
New Orleans head coach Kellen Moore said Wednesday that the team feels comfortable with Tyler. “Tyler did an outstanding job during his process. He really improved and took advantage of a ton of opportunities. We’re excited to have a full off-season ahead of us to build on that. »
Rattler earned the starting job over Shough at the end of training camp, before the Saints made a change after losing six of their first seven games.
Team general manager Mickey Loomis said the Saints were excited about Shough at the time of the draft, but didn’t feel the need to rush his development.
