TV Dillingen Derby: Victory & Trends

Dillingen The badminton cracks of TV Dillingen start the second half of the regional league season this weekend. There are two important games on the agenda. On Saturday (3 p.m.) the Donaustadt team will host their midfield neighbors from Nuremberg in the Sebastian Kneipp Hall. On Sunday there will be the Swabian derby against the guests from Diedorf from 10 a.m. They also rank right next to Dillinger in the table. This sets the course as to whether the TVD will move forward or backward in the rest of the season. Admission to both games is free.

The captain is back on board

What fuels Dillingen’s hopes of home success: Captain Florian Berchtenbreiter will be back in action for the first time this weekend after his long-term shoulder injury. Florian Waffler, on the other hand, is unlikely to join the squad again until the next league games. Michael Täuber (cruciate ligament) has resumed training after a long break. Annika Oliwa, on the other hand, will probably no longer be able to play at regional league level (knee problems).

A Dillinger player was already busy working. The Southeast German Badminton Championships took place in Markkleeberg near Leipzig. Despite adverse weather conditions, all qualified participants traveled. Among them was Lilli Cramer from TVD, who wanted to compete with the best players from the regional associations of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Saxony after the Christmas break.

Cramer with new doubles partner

In the women’s singles, she won her first match after an exciting and competitive three-set game. In the next round she met number one seed Lena Reder from Offenburg. The woman from Dillinger showed a strong performance and improving form against the favorite, but had to admit defeat with 14:21 and 18:21 after impressive rallies. Cramer then had high hopes for the women’s doubles, as she had recently achieved very good results here. However, her actual doubles partner had to cancel at short notice due to illness. Lilli Cramer and Nadja Reihle spontaneously competed against a pairing from Saxony. The newly formed duo impressed and won the first encounter comfortably.

However, Silke Mader and Katharina Rudert, the second division players in second place, were waiting in the quarter-finals. As an unrehearsed pairing, Cramer/Reihle found only a few resources against the flawless and clever game of the favorites and had to clearly admit defeat. Nevertheless, the fifth place achieved meant a very good result in a strong field of participants. (with flobe/ec)
