On this first weekend of January, the Jean-François Lamour gymnasium in Arles vibrated to the rhythm of the shuttlecocks. On Saturday January 3 and Sunday January 4, nearly 340 competitors competed in the eighth edition of the “Volants de l’Arlésienne”, a tournament organized by the Badminton Club Arlésien. On the eleven courts of the gymnasium, the intensity never wavered: no less than 426 matches were played in two days, including 234 doubles on Saturday and 192 mixed on Sunday.

Christian Castillon, president of the Badminton Club Arlésien, did not hide his enthusiasm: “The pace has been frantic, it’s true.” Proof of the growing success of the event, registrations were completed in just a month and a half. “As of November 15, there was no longer a place available, although we usually still receive requests up to two weeks before the tournament.”he clarified. An attractiveness which can also be explained by the reputation of the tournament, now considered one of the major regional events, open up to Nationale 2.

In mixed, Elie Girard (Arles) and Amélie Tran (Anduze) completed the podium in series 1, while Jérôme Dessalces (Arles) and Laure Garçonnet (Arles) obtained third place in series 7. • DR

Finally, in mixed, Elie Girard (Arles) and Amélie Tran (Anduze) completed the podium in series 1, while Jérôme Dessalces (Arles) and Laure Garçonnet (Arles) obtained third place in series 7.
