The Trieste team, coached by Simone Halabi, showed no signs of intimidation against the undefeated “queen” of Group B. They leveraged the notable reach of Martucci, who dominated the boards wiht 16 rebounds, and showcased a well-rounded offensive effort that frequently put Venezia on the back foot. At one point in the second period, Trieste surged to an 8-point lead, demonstrating their capability to compete at a high level.
By halftime, Trieste held a 34-28 advantage, a testament to their solid defence that effectively limited Venezia’s key offensive threats. The Julians extended their lead in the third quarter, with Martucci and Tobou Mouafo contributing crucial baskets to establish a commanding 43-32 lead.However, Venezia, known for their tenacity, managed to chip away at the deficit, halving it by the end of the third quarter.
The momentum shifted in the final period. A 7-2 run by Venezia tied the game at 54-54, and the tide turned in favor of the orogranata. led by Eramo, Marini, and Favaretto, Venezia closed out the game strong, securing their victory and officially clinching their qualification for the turin finals.
