Last week, Thùy Linh took part in the Indian Open. There she caused a surprise by beating local player and former world champion Pursula Sindhu in the first round.

Later, the Vietnamese player again posed a challenge to world number 2, Wang Zhi Yi of China. Although she was eliminated, Thuy Linh made a strong impression in that match.

She continued her impressive form from the beginning of the year at the Indonesia Masters. In the first round, which took place on January 21, Thùy Linh faced off against Lin Hsiang Ti from Chinese Taipei.

Last year, the Vietnamese “badminton hot girl” briefly reached 17th place in the world rankings. However, a period of decline in form and less participation in international tournaments caused her to drop out of the top 20. Thùy Linh is currently in 21st place.

Lin Hsiang Ti, meanwhile, is one place higher in the rankings thanks to good results in several recent tournaments. However, the match showed that Thuy Linh was still the more skilled player. After an even battle at the start of the first set, the Vietnamese player gradually took the lead with clever strokes. She secured a 21-14 victory in this set.

In the second set, Thùy Linh continued to dominate thanks to her solid defense and cool finishing. This saw her achieve another convincing 21-11 victory, deciding the match in just over half an hour.

In the second round, Thùy Linh will face a much tougher opponent: Chiu Pin-Chian, also from Chinese Taipei, who is currently ranked 14th in the world. She is also the number 7 seeded player at this year’s Indonesia Masters.
