John Textor is pushing for the contribution/loan of US$50 million (R$260 million at current exchange rates) to the Botafogo be signed, reported journalist Matheus Medeiros on X this Wednesday (28/1).
The businessman is expected in Brazil this Thursday and will try to resolve the matter personally. Behind the scenes at SAF, there are those who dispute this contribution, as there is a different interpretation.
According to “O Globo”, the contribution cited by Textor is seen more as a loan, and with very high interest rates – in around four months, the amount owed would double, reaching US$ 100 million.
Furthermore, although John Textor said that this money could pave the way for new investors to become SAF shareholders, giving up part of the 90% he holds, the contract stipulates that player sales would be given as guarantees.
Still according to “O Globo”, the contribution – or loan – would initially be US$20 million, to pay for urgent expenses such as the transfer ban, and the other US$30 million in the following weeks.
At this moment there is pressure from Textor for the loan (which he calls a contribution) to be signed and Botafogo to receive the 50M dollars.
The news of @jotapfragoso about abusive interest rates and the guarantees of this financing were topics of meetings in recent days.
