The Challenger de Lima 2026 released its qualifying entry list, setting the field for a tournament featuring 20 players from 12 countries competing for main draw berths at the Club Terrazas de Miraflores.
Play for the qualifying rounds is scheduled to begin on Sunday, November 8, 2026, ahead of the ATP Challenger 75 event. The initial qualification roster places Argentina’s Álex Barrena at the top of the qualifying seedings.
Qualifying Field Led by Álex Barrena and Joaquín Aguilar
Barrena, a 24-year-old from Buenos Aires, enters the Lima tournament following a sustained schedule across South American and European circuits. His position as the top qualifying seed follows a notable run in September at the Challenger de Buenos Aires, where he claimed the tournament title.
During that run in Buenos Aires, Barrena defeated Uruguay’s Joaquín Aguilar Cardozo in the semifinals. Aguilar Cardozo, a 21-year-old player experiencing the strongest stretch of his professional career, is also confirmed for the qualifying draw in Miraflores, opening the possibility of a rematch should both players advance through the preliminary rounds.
Aguilar Cardozo’s recent campaign includes a series of standout results in ITF and Challenger events throughout 2026. In Buenos Aires, he eliminated top-seeded Argentine Francisco Comesaña before defeating Peru’s Juan Pablo Varillas 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

Circuit Veterans Join the Preliminary Draw
The qualifying draw also incorporates several players with extensive professional experience on the ATP circuit. Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro, Uruguay’s Franco Roncadelli, Ecuador’s Álvaro Guillén Meza, and Colombia’s Daniel Galán appear on the qualifying list.
Monteiro brings prior experience from ATP tournaments and Grand Slam main draws, while Galán previously climbed inside the top 60 of the world rankings. Roncadelli and Guillén Meza maintain regular schedules across the South American clay-court circuit.
The wider tournament structure already guarantees main draw positions for local competitors Gonzalo Bueno and Juan Pablo Varillas. The main draw list features 21 direct-entry players alongside Colombia’s Miguel Tobón, who enters via a designated spot for emerging players, with additional places to be filled by tournament wildcards and successful qualifiers.
