The Cabildo of Tenerife has awarded 3.15 million euros to 37 sports clubs on the island. The clubs compete in non-professional national leagues. The support is intended to strengthen the structure of the teams, explained sports representative Yolanda Moliné.

Funding for sports clubs on Tenerife increases by 300,000 euros
Compared to the previous funding, the amount increased by 300,000 euros. 1.716 million euros went to the highest national leagues, the rest to other national categories. The first payment was made in December, the second will follow at the beginning of 2026.
The financial support covers general club expenses: payments to players and coaches, social security contributions, travel costs including accommodation and meals, rent for club rooms and association fees.
Volleyball was particularly strongly supported with 12 teams, which accounts for over 30 percent of the clubs supported. Basketball follows with 5 teams. The distribution of funds shows balanced funding: 17 men’s, 16 women’s and 4 mixed teams received support.
