With the participation of more than one hundred archers from Yucatán and Quintana Roo, this Sunday the 11th edition of the Kings archery Tournament will take place on the baseball field of the “Víctor Cervera Pacheco” Sports Unit in Tizimín.
Carol Gamboa Aguilar, president of the State Archery Association, announced the details of the event that will bring together its selected state and national competitors in the forms of compound, recurve and barebow or traditional bows.
Gamboa Aguilar announced that this tournament will serve as a training session for Yucatecan archers who are of National Olympic age.
“We want this event to consolidate the work and bring these tournaments within the State, we want them to have the same opportunities that the boys from Mérida have,” he said.
For his part, the event’s technician, José Euán Montero, mentioned that the intention of the tournament is to be able to carry out a competition at the level of what archery in Yucatán implies today, “it is to carry out a scenario in which developing athletes can carry out their competition system in projection of what has been the National Olympics and that allows all those archers also in development to have their first steps in what has been a competition.”
Since 2012
He recalled that this competition has been held since 2012, consolidating itself as a high level due to the quantity and quality of archers who compete there. Furthermore, in this edition their performance will be taken as a follow-up control for the National Olympics, in the case of those who are part of the state selection.
In the Kings Tournament there will be competition in the recurve and compound bow modalities, in the initiation, Sub-14, Sub-18, senior and master categories, as well as barebow or traditional.
The first three places in each branch and category will be awarded.
