SYNTAINICS MBC: Leadership Change & Future Outlook

The SYNTAINICS MBC is now planning without John Bryant. The center player was released from training and games after last weekend’s away game in Oldenburg. Both sides are currently holding discussions about the current situation and next steps. There are no plans to return to the squad.

The decision was made after an internal review. The German cup winner came to the conclusion that central expectations of professionalism and cooperation had recently no longer been met. In the interest of the stability of the team and the values of SYNTAINICS MBC, a clear step was necessary.

Sports director Silvano Poropat says: “The decision was difficult, but in the end it was unavoidable in order to protect our basic principles. We stand for professionalism, discipline and team culture – without these fundamentals we cannot work successfully. We have great respect for John’s career and would like to thank him for his time with us. We wish John all the best for the future personally and sportingly. We are now looking forward and concentrating on the further course of the season. It is important to get back on track to winning as quickly as possible.”

John Bryant moved from then league rivals Gießen to Weißenfels in January 2022. He wore the Wolves uniform in 130 games in the easyCredit BBL, putting him third on the all-time record list, level with Malte Schwarz, behind Sergio Kerusch (153) and Djordje Pantelic (133). He averaged 6.3 points and 3.5 rebounds. In 2025 he was part of the most successful team in the club’s history, which won the BBL Cup and reached the playoff quarter-finals. In the current 2025/26 season he was only used in eight of 15 games in the easyCredit BBL; his yield fell to 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds. The German-American recently played his 500th game in the top German league, in which he played for Ulm, Munich and Giessen before moving to SYNTAINICS MBC.

The SYNTAINICS MBC would like to thank John Bryant for his commitment over the past four years and wishes him all the best in his private and sporting life.
