Sports Governance: Clarity & Minister’s Response

Marina Ferrari, Minister of Sports, announced a meeting next Monday to address issues surrounding the organizing committee for the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Sports Minister Marina Ferrari asked on Friday “rapid and complete clarification on governance and stability” of the organizing committee for the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games, after the announcement of a second resignation in less than two months. Cojop announced on Friday the departure of communications director Arthur Richer, which comes after the resignation of operations director Anne Murac in December 2025, just five months after her arrival.

“This new departure within Cojop naturally attracts my attention and raises real concerns. It calls for rapid and complete clarification on the governance and stability of the organization.Marina Ferrari said Friday afternoon in a statement sent to the press.

She announced that “starting Monday, a meeting of the executive board bringing together all the stakeholders will be held. It should make it possible to obtain clear explanations from the Cojop management.” And “for several months, work has been progressing” on the 2030 Olympics project, the Minister of Sports estimated that the “collective dynamic, which mobilizes all stakeholders, is essential to the success of the project and must absolutely be preserved”.

I will be extremely demanding and vigilant on this point, alongside the sports movement and local authorities. I will ensure that everyone assumes their responsibilities”also underlined Ms. Ferrari.

A source close to the matter reported to AFP on Friday that «tensions an internal» at Cojop but “also externally” with the institutions of the sporting world, around “political choices”, “strategic” or “managerial” already taken or to be taken, in a context of differences between certain Parisian officials and actors from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions.
