Former Real Madrid player, Gareth Bale was asked about the dismissal of Xabi Alonso. Bale, I’m not surprised.

“I’m not at all surprised,” he told TNT Sports with a small smile.

“I understand how Real Madrid works. It’s the most difficult place for any coach,” he stressed.

Gareth Bale still respects Xabi Alonso. For him, Alonso is an extraordinary coach, able to polish players’ talents, so that he can prove himself to bring Bayer Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga.

However, Real Madrid is more than that. The coach’s biggest challenge at Los Blancos is the players’ egos.

“He’s a good coach, but when you’re at Madrid, you’re not just a coach. You’re a manager who has to be able to control your ego in the dressing room,” he explained.

“Madrid is full of star players who can change the game. Alonso is good at coaching and in terms of tactics, unfortunately he didn’t succeed in Madrid,” concluded Bale, who has 258 appearances for El Real.
