According to media speculation, Prague will pay roughly four million euros (97 million crowns) plus possible bonuses of 750,000 euros (18 million crowns) for Vojta.
“We didn’t want to let him go because we have a difficult spring ahead of us, so we wanted him to leave in the summer. We registered interest from several clubs, but the specific and most significant financial offer came from Sparta,” the club’s website quoted sports development director Josef Jinoch as saying.
“We will not disclose the exact amount, but I think that Vojta’s transfer is currently the most expensive in the Czech league for a Czech player,” he added.
The specialized server Transfermarkt lists the summer transfer of Slovak striker Erik Prekop from Ostrava to Slavia as the biggest transfer to date (3.1 million euros).
The people of Prague paid three million euros in 2024 for the gunner Tomáš Chorý from Pilsen, and last year’s transfer of midfielder Michal Beran from Jablonec to Olomouc should cost about the same amount, including bonuses.
Among other things, Vojta impressed in mutual matches, he prevailed in three out of four duels against Sparta.
The lanky striker already led Mlada Boleslav in terms of scoring in the last league season, when he scored ten times.
In the current year, he scored seven goals, only four players are better in the table of the top scorers of the competition.
“At his young age, Matyáš is a confident and productive striker with a good choice of space in the box. He is valid in the press and can react very quickly when the ball is lost,” described the new addition, Sporting Director of Sparta Tomáš Rosický.
“We believe that, thanks to his typology and attributes, he has the potential to grow into a complex central striker,” added the Leten boss.
A graduate of Vyšehrad, he transferred to Mladá Boleslav in 2022. Through the B-team and a loan spell at second-division Varnsdorf, he worked his way up to “A” and played with the Conference League team last season. In the top competition, he has a record of 44 matches and 17 goals.
“I tried not to notice it and leave the negotiations to the manager, but the last two weeks there was quite a lot of hype around me,” admitted Vojta.
“I rejected the first offers last summer, saying that I still wanted to stay in Bolka, but after a personal meeting with Mr. Rosicky at the end of last year, I was already determined to transfer to Sparta,” continued the young forward.
“I was happy to be a part of the Mladá Boleslav club. Working in it changed me personally and athletically. I want to be an example to all young guys that you can make your way from Mladá Boleslav,” added the native of Prague.
The coach of the second team of the first league table, Brian Priske, will not be able to use Vojta in the opening spring round in the small Prague derby at Dukla. The young striker will serve his punishment for four yellow cards.
