Smart Energy Cup Falun: Classic Race Results

The Smart Energy Cup continued on Friday with a 10 km classic in Falun. The men were first on the track and offered a close battle for the victory.

Calle Halfvarsson, who had a difficult start to the season, opened offensively and took command of the race after a couple of kilometers. For a long time he seemed to be heading for victory, but towards the end he was opposed by Leo Johansson. Johansson showed a strong finish and was finally able to pass and win by a margin of 5.5 seconds.

Behind the tight duo it was also even. Eric Rosjö, IFK Mora SK, came in third, only 7.9 seconds behind the winner. Johan Häggström and Fredrik Andersson, both from Piteå Elit, completed the top five.

In the women’s race, Linn Svahn was back in competition after last competing in Davos before Christmas. After missing the Tour de Ski and instead training at home, she was the clear favorite before the start, a favorite she also fulfilled.

Svahn maintained a high pace throughout the race and took the victory, but was thoroughly challenged by Evelina Crüsell. Crüsell, who just days earlier finished the Tour de Ski up Alpe Cermis, closed in on the final kilometers, but Svahn was able to hold off and win by 9.1 seconds.

Behind the top duo was Tove Ericsson, Hudiksvalls IF, for a strong effort and finished third.
