Jannik Sinner’s debut in Melbourne is getting closer and closer: the Sesto superstar will start the Australian Open on Tuesday. Previously, one of his colleagues caused laughter.

Jannik Sinner is a four-time Grand Slam champion, he was number 1 in the tennis world for over a year, and he is considered an absolute superstar in the sports scene. And it seems that the Sesto Bui is also a trendsetter. At least that’s how his tennis colleague Coco Gauff (WTA 3) took it.

The two-time Grand Slam winner appeared in Australia in the “Sinner look”. Her hair is now reddish-orange – similar to Sinner’s. After her opening win against Uzbek Kamilla Rakhimova, Gauff was asked about her new hairstyle – and she answered with a lot of humor. “I thought it was a good idea since there’s this guy on the tennis tour with red hair who’s doing pretty well,” Gauff joked. It is clear who was meant: Jannik Sinner.

“He,” continued the American, “has a nice amount of records here, but unfortunately I don’t. Maybe that will help me now.” The Sinner look as a lucky charm? Coco Gauff apparently believes so! The world number 3 has already won the French Open (2025) and the US Open (2023) in her career, but has never made it past the semi-finals in Australia. Sinner himself gets into the ring on Tuesday from 9 a.m. (CET/SportNews live ticker). He is a two-time defending champion in Melbourne.
