Sigma Olomouc Signs Czech Player – Sport.cz

“The forward position was one of those where we wanted to improve the quality of the staff. Václav Sejk fits our ideas perfectly. He is a winning type, we need a player with that mentality. There was interest in him in Sigma earlier. I am very happy that this time we managed to get him, even though the negotiations were not entirely easy. I believe that he will do well in Olomouc,” said the club’s general sports manager Pavel Hapal.

Sejk is looking forward to the new engagement. “The vision and ambitions of the club are different than, for example, a year ago, when Sigma was also interested in me. Now I feel the strength of the team, which can fulfill the ambitions. I am convinced that I can be part of something interesting that started to develop here in the summer. I want to play cups, as high as possible in the league, and we will see if we succeed. I hope that we will build on what was achieved last year and get to Europe again,” Sejk said.

He started playing football in Boletice nad Labem, then via Teplice he got to Sparta Prague at the age of fifteen. He spent the autumn part of the current season on loan at Heerenveen in the Netherlands, for which he scored three goals and assisted one in 17 games in the Eredivisie. In the Netherlands, he also worked in the Roda Kerkrade in the past. He also has experience from Portugal (Famalicão) and Poland (Zagłębie Lubin).

Before going abroad, he played in the Czech highest competition in Teplice and Jablonec, where he was a guest. He played in 55 matches in the Chance League, scoring 11 goals.

In November, he made his debut in the Czech national team in a duel with San Marino. He regularly represented in the youth categories, mostly in the under-21 jersey. He played a total of 36 duels for the lion cubs from 2021 and scored 13 goals. In the past cycle, he was the captain of the team with which he fought his way to the European Junior Championship, which was played in Slovakia.
