Senegal’s Faye Celebrates AFCON Win | Radio San Martín 97.7 FM

The president of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, celebrated winning the African Cup of Nations in the company of his two wives. In official photographs, the president appears holding the golden trophy while being flanked by Marie Khone Faye and Absa Faye. This gesture reinforces the visibility of polygamy, a legal and traditional practice in the African nation.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye had the Senegal cup in his hands after the team beat Morocco by the narrowest margin in the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

One of the first images shows the president wearing a sash with the colors of the national flag and the word “Senegal” engraved on it. His wives accompany him wearing elegant outfits: one wears a brown outfit with traditional details, while the other opted for an impeccable white suit.

It should be remembered that the Senegalese footballers brought joy to the entire country, after beating the hosts by a narrow 1-0, thanks to a goal from Pape Gueye in the first half of extra time, which came after a penalty missed by Brahim Díaz in the final seconds of the complement.
