- Leader of Group D after three days of the group stage, Senegal faces Sudan. The Falcons of Jediane finished in the best third place with three points in Group E.
- In its group D, Senegal first defeated Botswana 3-0 before drawing against the Democratic Republic of Congo (1-1). Finally, the Lions won again 3-0 on the last day against Benin.
- For its part, Sudan started with a heavy 3-0 defeat against Algeria before securing its qualification on the second day thanks to its 1-0 victory against Equatorial Guinea. Finally, the Falcons of Jediane lost 2 to 0 against Burkina Faso.
