Brazilian Football Star: Heart Surgery Update

Former Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos has undergone heart surgery in São Paulo.

The problems with the organ were accidentally discovered in the player during a check-up, which was carried out in connection with a small blood clot in the leg. The operation, which was supposed to take 40 minutes, lasted almost three hours due to complications.

Roberto Carlos’ life is not in danger, but he will remain in the hospital under the supervision of medical staff for preventive purposes for at least 48 hours.

The 52-year-old former footballer played for Real Madrid, Brazilian União São João, Atlético Mineiro, Palmeiras and Corinthians, Italian Inter, Turkish Fenerbahçe, Indian Delhi Dynamos, and Anzhi Makhachkala. As part of Real, the Brazilian won the Champions League three times.
