Schmidt Injury Update: Hoffenheim Match in Doubt

Isaac Schmidt did not survive the Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen (0-1) unscathed. As Werder Bremen’s coach Horst Steffen announced after the game, the full-back had to be taken off the field with an injury.

“He suffered something and had a headache,” explained Steffen, who classified his player as “questionable” for the upcoming game. Werder will continue their catch-up game against TSG Hoffenheim on Tuesday.

Critical for the Hanseatic League: The defensive situation is not only getting worse because of Schmidt’s injury. Marco Friedl is definitely missing due to a yellow card suspension and Amos Pieper could also be out. In the case of the latter, Steffen was not yet able to say to what extent the wound suffered on the knee would have consequences.
