Peixe resumes conversations with Rony
In search of reinforcements for the attack, Santos is studying the possibility of buying two players at once. According to Lucas Musetti, the board is trying to make the signings of Michael, from Flamengo, and Rony, from Atlético-MG, viable in the current transfer window.
Peixe resumed negotiations for Rony, Alexandre Mattos intensified negotiations with the athlete’s representatives and the coastal club has an advantage over Corinthians in the operation. Alvinegro Praiano was already close to the ex-Palmeiras, but conversations stopped weeks ago.
Santos is willing to buy the striker with an installment paymentbut is still cautious, as the negotiation has already had many twists and turns. He was treated as a possible immediate replacement for Guilherme, who transferred to United States football at the end of the 2025 season.
Michael can also be hired
In addition to Rony, the Santos board is working to hire Michael. However, this will only be possible if the athlete manages to negotiate a contract termination with Flamengo and remain free on the football market.
In a delicate financial situation, Peixe has no intention of paying money to buy the two players. Therefore, the only way to acquire both is if the former Al-Hilal striker enters into an agreement with Rubro-Negro.
“The two could come together as long as Michael gets his release from Flamengo. He has a long contract, he doesn’t give up the value and Flamengo doesn’t want to release him for free. The player’s agent is trying to resolve the situation”, inform Musetti.
Michael would have a longer contract and a high salary at Santos, although lower than at Fla. The winger’s agent promised to resolve the issue in the coming days.
Santos is in crisis
Alvinegro’s start to the season is not exciting fans. There are three draws in a row, just six points in Paulistão and a bitter tenth position, which puts Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s team in a very uncomfortable situation.
