Saint-Varent Tennis Club: Upcoming Projects & News

Founded in 1978, the Saint-Varent Tennis Club is still lively. The numerous projects mentioned during the general assembly, Saturday December 20, 2025, are there to bear witness to this. Chaired by Fabien Fort, the club currently has 44 members. A stable figure, knowing that half of the members are under 18 years old, with a dynamic tennis school every Saturday morning, under the leadership of instructor Alexandre Thiteca (TC Bressuire).

“Our goal is to make playing tennis as free and accessible as possible. We are a small club in a rural environment, conviviality is a priority, but that does not prevent us from also evolving at a good level of competition”summarizes Fabien Fort. No less than fourteen teams (including four young people) are registered in the various departmental and regional championships, “which represents nearly 250 matches per year”. In the over 35s category, team 2 was crowned D2 departmental champion.

Renovation of the courts planned this year

To support the evolution of the practice, the club and its volunteers are also banking on new developments. Starting with pickleball, a young discipline which is all the rage and is played on a small court, with a net, rackets and a ball adapted. Free introductory sessions are planned from January to June, every Wednesday evening….
