BRISBANE (Reuters) – The women’s singles semi-finals of the Brisbane Tennis International were held in Brisbane, Australia on the 10th, with defending champion Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus advancing to the final for the third consecutive year.
Sabalenka, ranked number one in the world and number one seed, defeated 11th seed Karolina Mukhova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4. He ended his losing streak against Mukhova with three wins, bringing his record to two wins and three losses.
Sabalenka, who has won four Grand Slam tournaments, defeated her opponent in last year’s Australian Open final, fifth-seeded Madison Keys of the United States, 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals the day before.
In the other semifinal match, 16th seed Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) easily defeated world No. 6 and fourth seed Jessica Pegula (USA) 6-0, 6-3.
