Opposed to his former club Juventus over salary payments during the Covid period, Cristiano Ronaldo won his case.
The period of the Covid pandemic that occurred in 2020 left its mark and created a dispute between Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus. The Portuguese took the matter to court, demanding payment of unpaid wages. A procedure launched in 2023 and which had led the Old Lady to pay nearly ten million euros to its former player. The club, however, appealed. The Turin court confirmed the first sentence.
The information has not yet been made official by either party. On the other hand, The Republic
affirmed this Monday that the court in question had confirmed that Juventus would not be exempt from this payment of 9.7 million euros and that the five-time Ballon d’Or would therefore not have to reimburse it. Furthermore, the Old Lady will have to bear the legal costs incurred by her appeal (around 50,000 euros).
During this famous Covid period, “CR7” had agreed to postpone the payment of his salary to allow Juve to pass a very financially complicated moment a little more peacefully. There was even a second payment postponement in 2021, the Turin club once again finding itself in a delicate situation.
