tvOnenews.com – In the midst of Cristiano Ronaldo’s contribution which helped Al Nassr achieve positive results in the 17th week of the Saudi Arabian League 2025/2026 season, the superstar actually received strong criticism from former Al Nassr players.
Al Nassr played an away match against Damac FC in Week 17 of the Saudi Pro League. The match which took place at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium, Thursday (22/1/2026) early morning WIB, ended with a 2-1 win for the visiting team.
Al Nassr immediately took the lead quickly in the fifth minute through Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s goal. Damac FC tried to apply pressure, but Al Nassr was able to maintain this lead until the first half break.
Entering the second half, Cristiano Ronaldo again listed his name on the scoreboard. In the 50th minute, he received a through ball from Joao Felix before firing a low shot from a tight angle in the penalty box. The ball rolled smoothly into the goal and failed to be anticipated by Damac’s goalkeeper, Kewin.
This goal was the 960th goal in Ronaldo’s professional career. The captain of the Portuguese national team is now only 40 goals away from the historic mark of 1,000 goals.
Damac FC managed to reduce the deficit through Jamal Harkass’ goal in the 68th minute, but the score 2-1 in favor of Al Nassr lasted until the match ended.
An additional three points from the victory over Damac FC made Al Nassr continue the positive trend in the Saudi Arabian League. The club nicknamed Al-Aalami has now recorded two consecutive wins, ending the previous bad period which was marked by three consecutive defeats.
Currently, Al Nassr occupies second place in the standings with 37 points, four points behind the leaders, Al Hilal.
Behind this victory, sharp criticism actually came from Youssef Khamis, a former Saudi Arabian football star and former Al Nassr player.
He considered that the influence of one of Al Nassr’s players on the field had shifted from a technical asset to a negative factor that had an impact on the team’s performance, balance and even results.
