Riccione Sports Tournaments | Athlete Focus

Youth five-a-side football, indoor archery, baseball, running: these are the protagonist disciplines of a new intense sports weekend in Riccione, scheduled for Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January, confirming the city’s role as a point of reference for sport at a national level even in the winter season.

After the great success of the Befana Tournaments, which from 4 to 6 January involved over 3,500 athletes, 120 football teams and 70 basketball teams from all over Italy at the Nicoletti Sports Center and in the city gyms, Riccione is preparing to welcome a new rich calendar of sporting events.

On Saturday 10 January, the “Massimo Pironi” Playhall will host “Campioni in Tour a Riccione”, the third edition of the national youth five-a-side football tournament for charity, dedicated to the categories Beginners, Pulcini, Piccoli amici and Primi kicks. All participating teams will access the 16th National Final of “Campioni in Tour”, scheduled for 28 June 2026 at the Nicoletti stadium in Riccione.

During the same weekend, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January, the “Annika Brandi” gym will host the “13th City of Riccione Trophy” of indoor archery, an interregional competition included in the national Fitarco calendar and organized by the Asd Arco Club Riccione. Around 160 archers are expected, from the youngest to senior athletes. Some of the participating teams will take part in the Italian Indoor Championship scheduled in Rome from 26 February to 1 March.

On Sunday 11 January, the Playhall will also welcome the first edition of the “Winter Baseball League” of the province of Rimini, with the participation of around 100 young athletes from various clubs in the area.

Also on Sunday 11 January, the Mini Calendar running race will take place, a non-competitive 8 kilometer race organized by Asd Riccione Podismo. The event will be held in the Spontricciolo area, starting from via Rebola at 9.30 am and arriving in the same street. Registrations will be possible directly on site.

To complete a very important winter sports calendar, from 15 January to 22 February, Riccione will host the Italian Absolute Sports Dance Championships, a national event that will bring thousands of athletes and companions to the city.

“The variety of disciplines involved demonstrates the strength of the Riccione sports system – declares the councilor for Sport Simone Imola -. From youth sports to national level competitions, Riccione continues to be a lively city, capable of attracting events, enhancing the facilities and promoting sport as a central element of growth, sociality and tourist development throughout the year”.
