Ren Nikaido won the Bergisel jumping competition at the Four Hills Tournament in Innsbruck. The Japanese took the first World Cup victory of his career ahead of Domen Prevc, who finished second and narrowly missed his third victory of the day. However, the Slovenian is still clearly ahead in the overall ranking after three out of four stations.
Prevc had previously won by a large margin in both Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Even if he wasn’t at the top this time, he seems unlikely to be caught in the final on Tuesday in Bischofshofen. Prevc clearly leads the overall standings with a lead of 22 meters over Jan Hörl. The Austrian finished fourth on Sunday behind his teammate Stephan Embacher.
Felix Hoffmann achieved the best DSV result
Felix Hoffmann took fifth place as the best German. In the overall ranking, the Thuringian is also the best DSV eagle in fifth place. Philipp Raimund followed on Sunday in twelfth place, Pius Paschke in 28th place.
The qualification continues on Monday in Bischofshofen. Prevc has never reached the podium on the Paul-Außerleitner-Schanze.
