Kraay junior thinks that Regeer can increasingly be called the ‘new Henderson’. With his leadership, passing and experience, the Englishman ensured that Ajax could make a bid for the national title last season, but left for Brentford last summer. Yet Regeer has to laugh when he hears Kraay junior’s comparison at ESPN. “No, everyone can decide that for themselves.” The midfielder functions well in the current system and therefore mainly looks at the organization of his team. “We have now chosen this system because I think it is the best organization to achieve high pressure.”
“I try to fulfill my role according to Youri Regeer, and not like Jordan Henderson. With all due respect to Jordan, who is a fantastic footballer.” Kraay then comes to the conclusion that the two players are now very similar in terms of position, to which Regeer agrees. Regeer was injured on Sunday after a charge from Cedric Hatenboer, but indicates that the damage is not too bad.
