The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Baltimore Ravens. It’s an easy win and their situation. The winner of that game will host a playoff game as the AFC’s fourth seed.
There are two teams that focus on defense. It’s also a divisional matchup for the playoffs, which brings more defensive success.
The Steelers are currently 10th in the NFL in yards per game (0.341). They are giving up 21.1 points per game at home this season. They’ve also had quiet success against some solid offenses in recent games.
The Ravens are just 16th in the league in that category (.366), but they have dealt with injuries all season. They have been much better in recent games, scoring just 280 points per game in the last three games. Granted, that number is slightly inflated by the loss against the Cincinnati Bengals.

These are two teams that have had inconsistent offensive production this season. Pittsburgh is 11th in the NFL in points allowed per game (0.405), while Baltimore is seventh in the same category (0.432). Collectively, these teams average 48.2 points per game.
The key for the Ravens is that they struggle with Lamar Jackson at quarterback. He is dealing with injuries and that clearly limits him. Baltimore averages 21.2 points per game against Jackson Last five “healthy” games. He only played 88% of the offensive snaps against the Cincinnati Bengals, but the game counted.
Much of the Ravens’ recent success has been with Tyler Huntley at quarterback. It’s probably more of a coincidence than an expectation, but it’s reasonable to believe that Jackson is playing less than 100% right now.
The Steelers have shined offensively recently, but they have also struggled a bit. They have scored 27, 28 and 29 points in three of the last five games, but they have also scored 7 and 6 points in the other games. They are far from an attack that is expected to occur week in and week out.
This is the type of game environment that leans most towards defenses. Both teams have had more defensive success lately and I expect the same to happen on Sunday Night Football.
