Texas Rangers sign reliever Jakob Junis to one-year, $4 million deal, source says

Junis, 33, stands out for throwing strikes and avoiding hard hits. Last season, with the Cleveland Guardians, he posted a 2.97 ERA in 57 appearances, striking out 55 batters and walking just 18 in 66⅔ innings in his first season working exclusively as a reliever.
Junis began his career as a starting pitcher with the Kansas City Royals and is still capable of throwing multiple innings. Over his nine-year career, he has a 4.36 ERA in 847 innings, with a walk rate of just 6% of the hitters he’s faced.
Junis is one of several relievers to join the Rangers’ bullpen, which has seen many changes over the past two years. He joins the likes of Alexis Diaz, Tyler Alexander, Carter BaumlerZak Kent y Chris Martinthe latter who returned with a similar one-year, $4 million contract.
