The Qianbaijiacun Basketball Court has completed an upgrade project, which included improvements to a number of facilities, including a complete roof replacement.

(Petaling Jaya News on the 9th) Qianbaijia VillageMinistry of Housing and Local GovernmentNext, a number of facility improvements were completed to provide villagers with a safer and more comfortable playing environment.

Lin Yinghua: The amount of funding exceeds 170,000

Qianbaijia Village Management Committee Chairman Lin Yinghua and a reporter from the Metropolis Community News visited the basketball court and pointed out that the above-mentioned improvement plan is an infrastructure construction grant (GRK) project and received a grant of RM172,800 from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

She said that the application for the funding was submitted early last year. The then Petaling District New Village Coordinator Zhang Siu Tong encouraged the application as early as possible and provided assistance in the process.

She said that the project started in October last year and was completed in early December. It included a number of facility improvements, including a complete replacement of the roof of the basketball court.

Roof Leak Comprehensive Update

She pointed out that the basketball court was originally covered, but because the basketball court was more than ten years old, the roof had already leaked before this upgrade. Although it had been repaired many times in the past, the effect was not satisfactory. Therefore, it was decided to replace it completely at once, and the new roof was made of thicker materials.

She revealed that the engineering improvement project also included the addition of a basketball court partition. Because the basketball court did not have a partition in the past, basketballs often flew out of the court when playing. Not only did they hit nearby homes, but the windows of vehicles parked around the basketball court were also smashed.

“With the installation of the netting completed, basketballs will no longer fly out of the court, improving safety.”

She said that this project also includes removing the old coating on the basketball court surface and re-coating it, as well as replacing two old posts on each of the two basket baskets on the basketball court with new basket posts.

Drainage system is also in place

At the same time, she said that the project also included improving the drainage system of the basketball court, because in the past, rainwater from the roof of the basketball court easily flowed to the ground, causing water accumulation on the ground around the basketball court.

“In this project, new drainage pipes will be added under the ground to guide rainwater to be discharged under the ground, so that there will no longer be water accumulation on the ground around the basketball court.”

She also said that part of the cement floor around the basketball court has been damaged, and this project will also upgrade the area, that is, dig out the old floor and re-pave it.

She said that the contractor also performed additional repairs on the pillars of the basketball court. Since the relevant pillars were partially rusted, the contractor added cement to the relevant pillars during the construction process to make them stronger and more durable.

She added that she was quite satisfied with this project; and with the completion of the upgrade of the basketball court, the villagers now have better basketball facilities.

Do not prevent outsiders from playing and keep things clean and tidy

“Especially for the children in the new village, they can play basketball in a safe and comfortable environment. Not only do they have a fixed space and platform, but it also helps to cultivate their interest in playing basketball. And if outsiders come to play on the basketball court, we will not stop them. However, we hope that the venue can be kept clean after use and the court facilities can be used well.”

Those present included Qianbaijia Village Management Committee members Liu Jiaxin, Wu Jianhe and Ye Biyan.
