A benchmarking study carried out for the 2024-2025 season by SkillCornerthe global benchmark for physical data, highlights the remarkable performance of the Qatar Stars League (QSL). The Qatari championship stands out as the best performing against the UAE Pro League and the Saudi Pro League in terms of total distance covered and high intensity distance. The QSL thus displays 16% more high-intensity distance than the UAE championship and 5% more than the Saudi League. Better yet, in comparison with the Spanish La Liga, the QSL presents a slightly higher volume of total distance covered, confirming a very high level of physical demand.
The analysis also reveals that the balance between total distance and intensity places QSL at the top of Asian football, ahead of the Korean and Japanese leagues. Another notable fact: the QSL is the league recording the greatest number of high-intensity pressures, surpassing both the five major European championships and the five best Asian leagues, a major achievement. On the other hand, the report highlights room for improvement in the ability to retain the ball under high pressure, an area where the QSL ranks among the bottom, just ahead of the UAE Pro League and at a level comparable to those of Saudi Arabia and Japan.
