PSG-Newcastle: Kvaratskhelia Injury Update

He seemed to be in great pain. Starting against Newcastle in the Champions League this Wednesday and author of an assist for Vitinha in the 7th minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was forced to leave the field in the 23rd after a big tackle from Anthony Elanga. The Georgian winger was replaced by Désiré Doué.

We were playing the 20th minute when the terrible duel took place. Coming to collect the ball from the feet of the Magpies player, the Parisian twisted his ankle before it was trapped between Elanga’s legs. The Swede received a yellow card for this big tackle.

Staying on the ground for many seconds, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was unable to regain his place on the pitch. Vitinha quickly requested his replacement from the Parisian staff. Starting immediately to warm up, Désiré Doué entered the game as the Georgian left the pitch, head bowed, supported by Achraf Hakimi and a club doctor. The former Neapolitan couldn’t even stay on the bench, he went straight to the locker room, without managing to set foot on the ground.

This injury could be a big blow for Luis Enrique, who has only just recovered João Neves. Injuries are piling up this season for the Parisians, who have notably had to do without Doué, Dembélé or Hakimi this season.
