Pius Federer: Innerrhoden Government Re-election Bid

The cantonal trade association of Appenzell Innerrhoden has announced the candidacy of 54-year-old Pius Federer (independent) for the government. Federer would like to succeed Roland Dähler (independent), who will not run again at the next district meeting on April 26th.

Federer is making himself available for the office of mayor and economic director, the trade association wrote in a statement on Friday. The nomination will take place at the meeting on April 1st. The board of the trade association is open to further candidates.

The message describes Federer as a prudent and reliable entrepreneur, trainer and commercial politician. The Grand Council and former Grand Council President is familiar with Innerrhoden politics.

Pius Federer already ran for cantonal government in 2025. However, he narrowly lost to Angela Koller (middle).

Last November, Roland Dähler announced his resignation from the Innerrhoden government in 2026. He has been in office since 2019.
