PBSI Women’s Doubles: New Strategy Revealed

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Badminton Union (PBSI) has decided to reorganize the main pair of the women’s doubles sector by separating Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Lanny Tria Mayasari.

Women’s doubles coach Karel Mainaky said that both couples could not show the expected results throughout 2025, which could not be sustained.

“We gave Apri/Fadia and Lanny/Tiwi the chance to play several matches, but the results were not satisfactory. I think it is no longer possible to continue,” Karel said in a received statement.

In the new line-up, Apriyani will be associated with Lanny and Amallia to play with Fadia. This combination was chosen according to the technical needs of each of them.

Karel said Fadia more needed a partner with attacking strength from behind, while Apriyani needed a partner who could turn and have power.

“For the first match, at least at the Indonesian Masters 2026, my hope, yes, is that they can match or even surpass the other two couples who already have considerable progress,” he said.

Les deux autres couples en question sont Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari et Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum.

Karel admitted that he was quite happy with the development of the two couples after Rachel/Febi won the 2025 Australian Open Super 500 title and Febriana/Meilysa became the lead.

“For the Asian Games screening (2026), I really want to push Rachel/Febi and Febriana/Meilysa. However, we have also not closed the door to the two new couples if, in fact, they can overtake why not,” said Karel.

Amallia is currently playing with Lanny. The couple participated in the 2026 BWF Super 750 India Open which took place this week.
