Paolo Tonon: World Record – 60 Arrows at 18m (W1)

At the Tricolori Indoor Para-Archery in Lamezia Terme the Italian Paolo Tonon achieved the world record in the W1 on 60 arrows at 18 meters with 589 points, 2 more than the 587 of the American Jason Tabansky.

After a week of sport dedicated to young people, including Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, the Lamezia Terme Palasport today began hosting the 39th Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championship, organized by ASD Aida, with the support of the Fitarco Calabria Regional Committee.

Today the qualifying race and the preliminary phases, tomorrow the challenges that are worth the overall podium. The Tricolori also represent the first federal event of the Fitarco 2026 competitive season.

THE OUTGOING CHAMPIONS

On the shooting line the best Italian Paralympic archers in the Recurve, Compound, W1 and Visually Impaired categories. In the recurve, Stefano Travisani will try to confirm himself, who on Wednesday was welcomed together with the other paralympic world champion athletes at the Palazzo del Quirinale after winning the world gold medal last summer. In the women’s Elisabetta Mijno, mixed team gold in Paris 2024 with Travisani, is aiming to win the fourteenth overall gold of her career. Giampaolo Cancelli and Giulia Pesci will attempt the tricolor tricolor in the compound, both capable of taking first place in the double edition held in Novara. In W1 the most anticipated are two other Italians, the reigning champions Paolo Tonon and Asia Pellizzari. The day will end with the challenge for gold in the men’s double compound and the awards and closing ceremony.
