Östersund Winter Park: BOOST Visit & Guide

VISIT THE YOUTH FESTIVAL BOOST
Open:
kl. 16-19
Place: Vinterparken, Östersund

What is Boost?

Boost is a collaboration between the Swedish Olympic Committee and Fryshuset. The purpose of the project is to give teenagers a key into sports and club life.

The festival is aimed at young people aged 13-19 and offers the opportunity to try classic winter sports such as snowboarding, biathlon and figure skating, but also the slightly more unusual snow volley and VR sailing.

Everything is free and the contribution is made in close cooperation with local associations, so that the inspiration and energy born at Boost can live on.

– It feels very nice to be able to visit the winter destination Östersund, not least just a few days after the end of the Olympics. Hopefully we can inspire young people to dare to try a new sport and maybe find a new context, says project manager Tanja Määttä Berg, SOK.

Part of Snow, Wind & Concrete

BOOST is part of the Dream Project Snow, Wind & Concrete – a joint venture from SOK, the Skiing Association, the Sailing Association and Fryshuset to lower the thresholds to sports in areas where organized sports do not always reach. Snow, Wind & Concrete is financed by the Postal Code Lottery.

In Östersund, BOOST is reinforced by the “sister project” Snow Nation, which is the Ski Association’s Snow, Wind & Concrete project and which recently started operations in Östersund.

– We know that sport is a powerful way into community and development. Through Snow Nation, we get the chance to meet young people where they are, create new opportunities and show that there is a place for everyone in the sports movement, says the Swedish Ski Federation’s project manager Marina Minetti.
