Match preview
Arsenal cruised to a 3-2 win over Chelsea in midweek to put one foot in the EFL Cup final. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners now face their third away game in six days against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Since the loss to Aston Villa on December 6, Arsenal have won five consecutive EPL games before a 0-0 draw at home against Liverpool. They have also advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a win at Portsmouth and have put themselves in a great position to try and win a trophy.

Forest are out of the FA Cup after losing to Wrexham on penalties, so their focus will now be solely on survival in the Premier League. They beat fellow struggling West Ham last time out, a much-needed tonic for Sean Dyche’s side after four consecutive league defeats. One consolation for Forest fans is the fact that Arsenal have only won once in their last five visits to the Tricky Trees, losing three of them.
Injury news and key statistics
Forest will be without Arsenal loan player Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is ineligible. Goalkeeper John Victor, midfielder Ryan Yates and key forward Chris Wood are all injured.
Morgan Gibbs-White needs just one goal or assist to reach 50 direct contributions in the Premier League, a feat no Forest player has ever achieved.
The Gunners will have to do without defensive trio Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera. Mikel Arteta must choose between Myles Lewis-Skelly (a more natural choice) or Jurrien Timber for the left-back role.
