Nimes Archery: Recurve & Compound Explained

The second day of the fifth stage of Indoor World Series 2025-2026, currently taking place in Nimes, has been archived. Between the end of the ranking rounds and the direct elimination draws, up to the composition of the finals which will be held tomorrow, here’s how things went in detail between recurve and compound.

Recurve bow
The men’s victory will be contested by the Spaniard Andres Temiño Mediel and the Taipei representative Wei Chun-Heng, in a tournament that saw Mauro Nespoli and Matteo Borsani both lose in the 1/16 final against the Dutch Willem Baker (7-3) and the Indian Bishal Changmai (6-4) respectively.

In the women’s category, the host Victoria Sebastian and the Mexican Angela Ruiz will compete for the top step of the podium. The Frenchwoman, in particular, ousted the Italian Roberta Di Francesco from the scoreboard in the quarter-finals (6-4 comeback; 28-29, 29-29, 30-28, 30-29, 30-30), after the native of Pescara had managed to overcome the first two rounds by beating the French Eugénie Peslier in the shoot-off (6-5, 10-9) and the Indian Simranjeet Kaur (6-2; 30-29, 29-29, 30-28, 30-30).

Arco compound
Extra luxury final among the men with the strong Danish Stephan Hansen and the Dutch champion Mike Schloesser. The Nordic, in particular, in his progress overcame Italian archers twice: first Lorenzo Gubbini in a tight match which ended in a shoot-off (148-148; 10+ to 10+ for precision) and then Marco Bruno (149-147).

Feminine blow from the Croatian Amanda Mlinaric, also capable of eliminating two representatives of Italy (in succession Paola Natale and Elisa Baldo), who in the final will face the highly anticipated Colombian Alejandra Usquiano, skilled in the 1/16 to prevail 149-142 over Francesca Aloisi. Elisa Roner stopped in the quarterfinals instead: the archer born in 2001 overcame Lucie Jeannin (150-141) and then won the derby against Giulia Di Nardo (147-146) being stopped in her run by the very tough British Ella Gibson (150-146), who instead will play the final tomorrow 3-4th place with the Estonian Meeri-Marita Paas.
