On Friday night, three Slovak hockey players appeared in the NHL, two played against each other. Pavol Regenda confirmed that he is doing well against Washington. In a dramatic battle between two teams fighting for the playoffs, he was the central figure of the turnaround of the San Jose Sharks. While Regenda shone in the away team with a goal and an assist, defender Martin Fehérváry was also on the scoresheet for the home side, but his compatriot in the Sharks jersey enjoyed the victory. Montreal with Juraj Slafkovský lost on the ice of Buffalo.

Pavol Regenda scored after three meetings. During the San Jose Sharks’ 3:2 victory over the Washington Capitals, he played 13:46 minutes, in addition to his seventh goal and first assist of the season, he scored two plus points and two points. They declared him the second star of the match. Martin Fehérváry he spent 17:29 minutes on the ice in the jersey of the defeated team, recorded an assist, a plus point and two blocked shots.
The match broke in the second period. The home Capitals opened the scoring in the 31st minute thanks to star Dylan Strom, but in the 34th minute the visitors equalized after a goal by Zack Ostapchuk. Less than two minutes later, Pavlo Regenda, a native of Michaloviec, had his big moment. He first started an offensive action in the 35th minute, broke into the zone and found Collin Graf with a precise pass in front of the goal, who scored a goal to make it 2:1.
Less than a minute and a half passed and Regenda changed from the role of recorder to the shooter. In the 37th minute, he best found his way in the area in front of the goal after Macklin Celebrini’s pass, which he addressed blindly between his legs, and beat Logan Thompson. The Slovak winger has a record of 7+1 in 9 duels in the current year in the NHL.
Slovak forward Pavol Regenda scored his seventh goal of the season in the 37th minute of the NHL match on the ice of the Washington Capitals. His San Jose Sharks finally won 3:2 after the turnover, the native of Michalov also scored an assist in the meeting, which was his first of the year.
Washington tried to get back into the game in the third period. In the 50th minute, Ryan Leonard performed a beautiful individual action, which after passing through the San Jose defense reduced the score to 2:3. Martin Fehérváry scored the secondary assist for this goal.
In the final five minutes, the home Capitals were pushing for an equalizer, but they ran into the opponent’s sacrifice. It was Pavol Regenda who performed an important defensive intervention at 55:45 when he blocked a dangerous pass by Alexander Ovechkin and took the puck to safety. San Jose already maintained a narrow lead thanks to the great performance of goalkeeper Alex Nedeljkovic.
With this win, San Jose confirmed their excellent form (7 wins from the last 9 games) and consolidated their position in the elite eight of the Western Conference. On the contrary, Washington continues to have fluctuating performances.

Slovak striker Juraj Slafkovský did not expand his scoring statistics on Friday night. Although his Montreal was active at the beginning of the match and led twice, the home Buffalo Sabers confirmed their famous form and triumphed 5:3. The central character of the match was American gunner Tage Thompson, who sank the hopes of the Canadiens with a hat trick.
Slafkovský played 18:14 minutes, recorded one negative point, one shot on goal, one point and blocked two shots.
The match at KeyBank Center started at a high tempo. Montreal was the first to strike in the 4th minute, when his support Cole Caufield prevailed after a stoppage. However, the joy of the guests lasted only a minute – Tage Thompson took advantage of the power play with the first goal in the match.
Former Slovak hockey defenseman Zdeno Chára received a huge honor from the Boston Bruins. Together with his family, he hung the number 33, which the club will definitely retire, under the roof of the TD Garden arena.
Juraj Slafkovský started in the second formation alongside Ivan Demidov and Oliver Kapanen. The Slovakian winger tried to assert himself with a physical game, he showed active forechecking, but the home defense dealt with him. In the 14th minute, Montreal took advantage of a two-man power play thanks to Demidov and it seemed that the guests were dictating the pace, but Buffalo made it 2-1 before the break after Josh Doan’s goal.
In the second period, the game continued evenly. Montreal captain Nick Suzuki made it 3-2 in the 24th minute, but Buffalo responded again thanks to Alex Tuch.
The third period brought the decision. In the 46th minute, Thompson sent Buffalo into the lead again. In the end, Montreal decided to play without a goalkeeper, during which Slafkovský also appeared on the ice, but the pressure of the guests did not bring a goal. On the contrary, in the 59th minute, Tage Thompson sealed his hat-trick into an empty net and finally decided the result 5:3.
Montreal remains in 4th place in the Eastern Conference after this loss, while Buffalo confirmed its position as the team with the best current form in the league, winning 14 of their last 17 games.
