In her first match at the Indonesia Masters 2026 badminton tournament, the Vietnamese number one player, Nguyen Thuy Linh (world 21), faced a formidable opponent in the person of Lin Hsiang-ti (world 20) and the Taiwanese number two player.

However, with an impressive performance, Nguyen Thuy Linh had an explosive match, securing a convincing 2-0 victory over Lin Hsiang-ti in just 35 minutes of competition with scores of 21/14 and 21/11 respectively.
In both sets, Lin Hsiang-ti only managed to keep pace with the player from Dong Nai province on the first few points, after which Nguyen Thuy Linh accelerated with difficult and effective shots, leading to a convincing victory.
Interestingly, in the second round of the women’s singles of the Indonesia Masters 2026 badminton tournament, Nguyen Thuy Linh will face another Taiwanese player, Chiu Pin-chan (world 14). During their last meeting, in the final of the Korea Masters last November, Chiu Pin-chan beat Nguyen Thuy Linh 2-0. This time, the Vietnamese number one is determined to win.
The Indonesia Masters 2026 badminton tournament is part of the BWF World Tour Super 500 circuit and offers a total prize pool of US$500,000 (approximately VND13 billion). Prize money for individual champions (men’s singles and women’s singles) is US$37,500 (approximately VND970 million). Only the highest ranked players in the BWF rankings are allowed to participate in this tournament, with Nguyen Thuy Linh being the only representative from Vietnam.
