NFL Salary Cap: 2026 Increase Forecast

The dollars continue to rain in the NFL. According to NFL Mediathe league today informed teams that the salary cap would be set between 301.2 and 305.7 million dollars in 2026. The bar was set at 279.2 million in 2025.

A new major increase in the payroll which is a continuation of the monumental TV rights agreements signed in 2021. In 4 years, the budget allocated to player salary expenses has increased from 208 to 305 million.

A boon for spending teams struggling with their finances at the start of the new season. Agents and their player clients at the end of their contracts are rubbing their hands a few weeks before the opening of the free agency. Overpaid contracts still have a bright future ahead of them.
