Newey & Red Bull: Latest F1 Role Confirmed

Recently published Top Gear images of the updated Red Bull RB17, the ultimate hypercar that was put on paper by Adrian Newey when he was still working for the formation from Milton Keynes.

And although Newey today earns his money at Aston Martin, even as team boss, he is still under the Red Bull shortcut. He remains involved in the development and production of the RB17. Engineer Rob Gray confirms this on behalf of Red Bull Advanced Technologies.

“He is free to work on this project. He is also still very interested in how things are going and he continues to provide input.”

However, that is no longer on a daily basis, but there is also no need: “We received everything we need from him and we also know very well what he has in mind. We know what he wants the car to look like.”

“If there are ever any questions from us, we know where to find him on the other end of the phone and we’ll exchange ideas,” Gray continues.

“Ultimately, the idea is for us to make his vision a reality. In theory, he can design every part himself and he has done that often enough in the past, but on the other hand, he has always had a team around him that turns his ideas into reality.”
