(Naju = Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Ah-reum = Naju City, Jeollanam-do declared 2026 as the ‘Year of Visiting Naju’ and significantly expanded incentives and year-round festivals and events.

According to Naju City on the 21st, the city operates the ‘Naju 1 Night, 2 Gain’ program that provides incentives to individual tourists from other regions who stay at least 1 night in Naju and visit at least 1 tourist attraction.

Each team receives 50,000 won for 2 to 3 people, 100,000 won for 4 to 5 people, and 130,000 won for 6 or more people. If accompanied by children, an additional 20,000 won is provided, up to a maximum of 150,000 won in local currency.

Lodging will be recognized starting from March 1st and will operate until the budget is exhausted, and detailed standards will be announced through a notice in February.

In addition, year-round events are held, including the Lunar New Year Kite Flying Festival in February, the Na Hyeon Artist Exhibition in March, the Cheonnyeon Naju Mok-eupseong Cultural Festival in April, the Yeongsanpo Skate and Korean Beef Festival in May, the ‘Hero’ Musical Gala Concert performance in June, and the Bitgaram Highball Festival in August.

In October, the ‘2026 Naju Yeongsangang River Festival’, which has established itself as Naju’s representative integrated festival, will be linked with the International Namdo Food Culture Festival and the National Naju Marathon to increase demand for festivals, gourmet food, and sports.

In November, stay-at-home tourism will be encouraged through the Bitgaram Light Garden Festa, a nighttime content.

Naju City plans to hold a declaration ceremony for the ‘2026 Visit Naju Year’ at COEX in Seoul on the 26th of next month, appoint public relations ambassadors, and sign a business agreement to revitalize Naju tourism.

Ahn Se-young, a world-class badminton player from Yeongsanpo, Naju, Jeong Bo-seok, a veteran actor from Bannam-myeon, Naju, and Chef Ahn Yu-seong, the 16th master chef of Korea and a cast member of Netflix’s ‘Black and White Chef Season 1’, will serve as promotional ambassadors.

Naju Mayor Yoon Byeong-tae said, “We will build an ecosystem that connects residential tourism, culture, industry, and life to become a tourist city representing the Republic of Korea with a population of 5 million.”
