LIESHOUT – In the second phase of the national youth competition, BCL-J1/BouwBaar Beheer drew against the fourth youth team of BC Alouette. This draw keeps the team in the race for the top spots in division 32 of the D2 class. Asja Timmers and Siebe Klomp scored the points, as did Hilke Klomp, who won.
This season, Badminton Club Lieshout is participating with one youth team in the national youth competition organized by Badminton Netherlands. This competition runs over two phases (per season): the first will be completed at the end of 2025 and a number of matches have already been played in the second phase.
After winning the home match against the Best youth of BC Alouette, the Lieshout badminton players had a much tougher time in the away match. In the home game, several games were canceled due to understaffing, which could be noted as a win. In the away match there was only one point to be gained. Siebe Klomp and Hilke Klomp scored a very easy point.
The other two competition points had to be fought hard for. Asja Timmers did that in her singles part. She didn’t give opponent Nienke Vasen a chance and clearly won – in two sets – 16-21 and 10-21. The same Asja Timmers repeated her victory again alongside Siebe Klomp. After a clear victory in the first set (12-21), they narrowly had to leave the second set to their Best opponents (22-20). The Lieshouters made no mistake in the decisive third set. They took the set 16-21, making the final score 3-3.
